It’s BattleBit Remastered - saved you a click.
I have nothing against it OP for sharing this, but the headline of this article by PCgamer is super clickbaity, witholding the key info until you give them a click. There was a subreddit called “saved you a click” that was basically taking clickbait headlines and putting the “prize info” in the post title. I wonder if there will be a Lemmy equivalent.
You could always include such information in the body of the post (that way not altering the original title of the article which could lead to other problems), I guess communities could even require this to be done for every clickbaity article
Agreed!
they conducted playtests almost every Saturday, during which I played with some friends and logged over 50 hours. It’s definitely the most fun I’ve had with a multiplayer FPS since BF4/BF1.
i would say that if you’re into that genre, it’s a must-buy.BF2 (the oldie) was my favorite shooter. I’ll have to give this a try.
Boo, Anticheat prevents Linux gamers
I had a soft spot for BF2142 myself.
Anyone played with Steam Deck? It’s listed as parcial controller support.
The developers have said they will be switching from EAC to FaceIt anti-cheat in the near future, which will completely block Steam Deck and linux. As a fellow Deck user (and desktop linux user), I think controller support is the least of our worries
I saw something about that. It has destructible environments and some construction mechanics right? Are there specific classes/loadouts that can construct?
Yes! There are a few classes like Medic and Marksman which are pretty similar to those in Battlefield.
In terms of loadout, weapon customization is pretty in-depth. There are a lot of weapons and you can change the scope, muzzle, underbarrel, magazine and more. Take a look at this image.
Something great this game does is that you can’t just slap a long range scope on an assault rifle and expect it to be a long range weapon. Controlling recoil is really hard and you aren’t entirely accurate when scoped in, which is a breath of fresh air compared to some others in the genre.
Looks pretty cool. Did anyone play it yet?
I played it during testing and for a few hours since it came out to early access. It’s great compared to the mediocre unfinished crap most AAA studios are putting out. The servers run smoothly, VOIP is great, there’s a server browser, good gunplay. Obviously the graphics aren’t the selling point, but the gameplay is fun and everything just works.
It looks cool. I might have to get it later.
Crossposting my comment from another thread:
It’s already some of the most fun I’ve had in a multiplayer FPS in a long time. Last game we were 4 players in a car and the driver was blasting “I Need A Hero” over his microphone while we bum rush the objective.
We all died, but it was absolutely hilarious.
Which version?
He was actually just watching Shrek and turned the volume up at that part.
Honestly the best battlefield-experience I’ve ever had. Nearly everything can be collapsed with explosives/tanks, the VOIP feature is actually really cool (you can speak to everyone in your vincinity, also enemies & when you die your mic is open for 2 secs so the enemy might hear you curse; also, you can continue to make callouts when “down”) and and everything JustWorksTM. Solid Netcode and 60hz tickrate by default. Extremely deep weapon custimization, skins galore, prestige like in MW, it just has EVERYTHING the competition has except realistic looks. And I can see past that with what is on offer.
But the best part? You can drag people, even enemies, around. Be it to pull them out of line of fire, or throw enemies down mountains. The possibilities are endless!
If you like shooters and can bear the basic graphics I’d heavily recommend you give it a shot.
Unfortunately this game only worka on Linux for a limited time, they are switching to FACEIT anticheat soon which will not work on Linux.
I’ve been playing POLYGON as an alternative for Linux systems.
They stated they will allow EAC to be used in community servers, though that doesn’t really give me much hope since they won’t run their own EAC official servers?
If they do this, the only servers running EAC will be ones intended for Linux users. They will also be overrun by cheaters, I’m not going to pretend that FACEIT isn’t a more robust AC than EAC, but at least if every server was on EAC the cheaters would be spread out rather than concentrated.
