I’m not following closely and haven’t gamed on PC in a while but:

Denovo is a technology that is supposed to prevent copying games (DRM). Not sure what it’s current state is or might be mixing it up with other DRM, but DRM is known for causing headaches for paying customers. Using excessive system resources, refusal to launch for legitimate paying customers, spyware/excessive data collected and sent to a corporation, etc. In some games, volunteers will patch bugs out of a game, and this will cause the game to think it’s cracked and refuse to launch.

Some DRM is “phone home” and can’t be played offline, so people in remote areas can’t play. And sometimes the company doesn’t want to keep servers online when the game has been out for 10 years, so people that purchased the game can no longer play.

In this case, the company let reviewers rate the game and got the initial scores and sales, then pushed the unpopular DRM update. It’s scummy. If you’re using it, then use it. Don’t bait and switch.

I was trying to finish research and upgrade a few weapons and visited a few frozen lifeless rocks in a row. It was starting to get repetitive, so I decided to pick a random level 70 system at the limit of my jump range. One planet had a lot of life so I landed. There were a few of these level 10 giant beetles the size of an elephant with lizard skin (their muscles rippled when they moved, they were animated really well). I shot one to see what resources they dropped. Like a movie, an entire line of those things popped over a ridge and charged me. Level 45 to 70.

It was a tough fight. Exploring is rewarding, and focusing on planets and moons that have life show off more of the awesomeness of this game.

Any chance this fixes the bug where you can’t acquire powers from a temple? Even leaving and returning doesn’t work. You have to reboot the game.

I went through about 25 Star clouds on the last one before I figured out it wasn’t triggering.

There’s not much to do on the beginning asteroid, though. If you want to do any of the side quests without the main quest, or no quests and base build, you still need to leave the starting asteroid via spaceship.

No joke, I played at launch and I look off in a ship the first time, and I got an achievement: “Rare achievement earned: flew in a spaceship. 0.3% of players unlocked this”. I thought I had spent too long in character creation but I guess I spent less than most?

Yeah, but it still doesn’t explain the 15gb update yesterday. It’s still unable to launch. Not sure what that was about.

There’s already been an update on Xbox. The game was ~100gb download, and Monday evening, there was a 15gb update. I wonder if there will be another before Thursday unlock day?

Within the first 20 minutes of playing on launch day, I was admiring the scenery and a mammoth, in the distance, slid straight upwards. Like a helicopter taking off.
