If you ask me, the fact that it requires a PS5 makes it a non starter. I was really hoping for a standalone handheld, maybe not as powerful as the PS5, but something to compete with the Switch and Steam Deck. Like the PSP was a less powerful PS2 but still a standalone handheld providing a console like experience. Or even a phone handheld, the N-Gage was ahead of its time!

That is not a playstation handheld, it’s a screen with a controller attached to it. Looks like the steam deck will remain the best successor to the vita I own (I’ll accept switch if there’s disagreement)

This device would benefit greatly if it had 5G service compatibility, just thinking if it had that I could use it on my long commutes on the train. But with WiFi only definitely makes it a no-buy for me. Which is a shame, I loved the Vita and wished Sony would being out a true new handheld!

I don’t understand this device AT ALL?! Unless it’s suuuuper cheap there’s nothing it offers over simply pairing a DualSense controller to a phone or tablet?! Add to that the awkwardness of your hands HAVING to be a foot apart to hold the controller halves and it’s just mystifying why anyone would want this??

At the moment I can chuck a DualSense in my backpack and know that I can pair it to my phone when out and about. Two things I already have that work just fine and are arguably more comfortable to use. I would hope this is going to provide a better streaming experience but what I currently use is good enough for occasional use and my phone isn’t even a high end phone.

Oh, I forgot. Apparently it doesn’t even work outside of your home wifi network (it needs to be on the same wifi as the PS5??) making it even less functional than a phone using remote play?! So weird?!

I think the Verge reported a leak from the Microsoft vs FTC heating at $299 which is outrageous for a streaming only device.
