Back in 2000s there was still an entire industry dedicated to snatching licenses and selling shovelware based on them, so I don’t know how true this is. It could just be a case of history only remembering the winners.

If you compare it to now, we either get no movie tie-ins at all or at most some DLC cosmetics to celebrate it. The fact that there were winners at all kinda makes it the golden age by default.

Peter Jackson’s King Kong and Spider-Man 2, my beloved.

Sorry, but I don’t have fond memories of movie tie-in games. My dad rented Robots from Blockbuster for me and it was too hard, and dumb and I didn’t beat it before we had to return it.

Man, anyone remember the Xmen Origins Wolverine game? It barely had much to do with the movie aside from a couple of scenes, but it was an excellent game, and a shockingly good tie-in compared to how bad the movie is.

Oh man the Lord of the Ring game was absolutely incredible and they had a great coop system as well. Was able to bond with my little cousin at the time and we still bring up this game to this day.
