Never used to be any issues but recently I’ve had some real fun trying to get stolen domains back after the details were either wrong or false… you can do it, but it takes time and a heck of a load of cash
So just got back to this… so if it is parked on the bun you need to change the nameservers at cloudflare to actually get the domain to work. Without that step cloudflare can’t do much with it. Cloudflare will tell you your own personal cloudflare nameservers, porkbun will have set them to theirs, so firstly find out what the nameservers are set to in cloudflare. Work through this guide
https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/full-setup/setup/
Once cloudflare has the nameservers and they are resolving, which can take 24 hours, you can then route through your tunnel or whatever…
You want to use flexible ssl/tls for starters, doubtful it will work otherwise. Log in to cloudflare, choose domain, then SSL/TLS and see if encryption is set to flexible. See what that gets you, though it can take 15 mins for effects to show up. As long as the server can be reached cloudflare will try and match a certificate so lemmy gets served, as long as the server is set up correctly and the ports etc. are correctly forwarded and open
How are you using Cloudflare, and what are you serving the lemmy instance on? I’m guessing it is due to the ssl mode chosen as said before
Pico is kinda like Bludit, but Bludit has plugins. We all know the pros and cons of those but it does save you time if a plugin exists to do something you need, plus it has theme support. So pretty much the same then… I just have used Bludit thus the recommendation
oh and “installation” is just copy the files to where you want a half decent webserver to serve from. Half decent I mean it is much easier with say apache or nginx but possible with others. Had good results with nginx on a pi4b and Bludit for example
Bludit can do this if you want to save a bit of time… depends on what you want really
Now I know I’m going to say a dirty word here, but I still use cloudflare tunnels. No port forwarding required, yunohost plays nicely as long as you use https forwarding and make sure the tls settings allow any certs to be used. Other ways none cloudflare are around as well if needed… this lemmy instance is hosted at home, using yunohost and cloudflare tunnels
If the domain is ok yunohost side, and you have the dns side setup and still nothing then the port is not being correctly forwarded to the tinternet.
hottest day in what seemed like forever was here on Monday. Stayed away from studio/office as the heat was just unbearable! Im in the UK and it was around 32 outside and 35 in office as the 4-node heat generator was making a racket!
transitioning away from raid but I do love zfs for flexibility. A lot of the data I have is important for someone or somebody, so zfs and a decent backup solution is in use just to make sure. I went bananas and picked up a used Supermicro 4-node server that takes dual E5 Zeons (V1 or V2) with 2xE5-2620s and 49 gig ram in each node for £80 (I’m in the UK). Plenty of power and next is to upgrade the cpus to slightly better cpus to reduce power as it currently uses 2 nodes and I am pulling around 300 watts most of the time. Backup solution is an old Ryzen 3200G with 32 gig ram that runs truenas and has 5x3tb spinny drives in it
It was minding it’s own business and adding them… lol 😀
no issues with temps here in the UK, but the fans don’t sound happy…
Seen plenty of people who think this is a bad thing, do they just want everything to be crawled. I mean I don’t think this is the saviour but it has got to be better than wholesale theft
Not seen anything quite like that to be honest, but I do have a service running a pretty decent chat room system that doesn’t keep any data after the room is nuked. Not quite the same I know… but it works well for me!
to be fair I really just used my relay for myself and didn’t run into that many issues… but this IS the reality if you want to help others like you said…
Hey welcome to the fun of multiple drives. If you have the drives available then truenas (which uses OpenZFS) is better IMHO than hardware raid as it is just more resilient and you can (most of the time) move zfs data/pools around easily. I’m guessing ye olde Dell has a Dell raid card, and whilst they are ok, zfs is way better nowadays. If you value your data then parity and mirroring make for way better usage of drive space if you are careful. I mean zfs easily can support losing a whole drive (or 2 if you wish) without losing data, and the rebuild speed is pretty much 10X faster than old dell raid cards IF a drive does fail. Truenas has some great features built in for backup etc. and a decent truenas setup is way more flexible than a lot of the cheaper pre-built nas boxes as well. Of course, your mileage might vary, but I wouldn’t be without my truenas setup now. It also serves via shares to the android tv box for movies etc. I don’t even bother with plex. Whilst you might keep a single drive as a backup of the backup that pretty much wouldn’t be needed in zfs as the data is pretty damn secure with parity, but you might not agree. The other beauty of using zfs is that it is perfectly happy to use sata/sas/m.2 drives or whatever as long as they are accessed directly, though with an old dell raid card if it doesn’t support it mode or pass through for the drives it doesn’t work - zfs just needs simple access to the drive
I just installed a port of AndroidTV on mine and then changed over to an android tv box because they have a remote that just works etc. Connected to our surround sound system>projector it is just easy to do. I don’t even bother with plex anymore as the NAS box just serves files over ethernet/wifi and the box can, if needed, just download the file. You can then, of course install apps on android and do it that way if needed
I agree Wordpress isn’t cool BUT I have so many years that I still find it the quickest way to launch a site for a lot of people. Oh and the block editor is fantastic once you get used to it, I wouldn’t go back now…
Point to cloudflare as using tunnels… I have said this already, but this is exactly what is happening
