Anyone have thoughts on this? I’ve only played a little, so most of this doesn’t mean too much to me yet.

I’m pretty sure the always online drm was used to justify transactions in there first place due to the real money auction house.
I disagree. There’s a deeply unethical core built into Steam that is distinct to it. Since you can sell your loot drops for actual money, they are more literally scratch tickets than your standard loot boxes.
Valve does plenty of unethical stuff, you’re right, but the store isn’t really it. Go after them for their shady loot box gambling and really predatory monetization in f2p games that creates secondary gambling markets. It’s insane.
Valve has actual blood it’s hands and you’re complaining about the legitimate business front that covers for a deeply profitable and unethical core.
I’m very encouraged to hear this.
Playing Hades II makes me incredibly nostalgic for the first game, but I think I’m going to like the gameplay in the second so much more.
I wish there was a way to move seamlessly back and forth between the two for some reason.
Wait, a nameless hero will rise? Why would I want to play some no name character when I could be Guan Ping with a massive buster sword rampaging across a Chinese battlefield?
I’ve never played the game or even heard of this scene until reading that article and the sense he gives is so unsatisfying to me.
I think if you view it as a metaphor for divorce, it could make sense. Something the parents feel they have to do for their own health and well being that is nonetheless catastrophic for many children. Their children’s life as they know it, their sense of security, is carefully and methodically being ripped apart.
I could see that, but he didn’t really go there, it was just that the parents are so egoistic they just do whatever they believe is right.
I mean, sure, but it could be a powerful scene if framed properly, but it really sounds messed up.
Let me know what you think! I love qud and DF, but bounced off Eve pretty hard, so I think our tastes are at least somewhat similar.
Dang, there’s an idea in here that would absolutely be my favorite game of all time. Unfortunately, the reviews make it sound unforgivingly dense.
I’d be curious to hear more. I bought it just to ride the hype train. I regret nothing, but I’m not sure what features would help me dive back in for more.
When can I get one of these voices to read an epub on my phone? I’d love to have something like that
I’m all for an eventual steam deck 2, but man, I’ve absolutely loved my deck and can’t imagine a reason to upgrade any time soon. It does everything I want for now.
I’m so confused. How am I being disingenuous?
Nothing wrong with asking honest questions. The point of this place is to foster discussion and community and sometimes that involves helping someone get up to speed.
Very pleased with bioferrite extraction being added for tribals. I created a ritual-focused tribal and just getting stone cutting took forever. Trying to angle towards electricity would have taken forever.
I couldn’t ever make the engine work. It just never clicked for me. So everyone talks about how exciting big numbers could be, but I never got big numbers. I just keep struggling and dying over and over again.
I tried it and refunded it. It did not work for my brain. I’m glad they’re seeing such success and it’s clearly a terrific idea, but man, it just made me feel bad.
Not excited for tencent, but the idea of an rts that de-emphasizes APM sounds really intriguing to me.
