I have lost my job to wider cuts a few times myself and on reflection, I think I prefer being “aligned” or “realigned” inasmuch as it makes me feel like a cool laser satellite. But I am not immune to the frictive charms of being “restructured”, which makes me feel like a Transformer
I absolutely love the comments on RPS. It’s hits like these which makes me keep coming back.
I just realized I have no idea who pays for Let’s Encrypt. I just run the server commands, automate it, and move on.
I completely forgot about the term SJW until this little dig into history.
Joplin.
Ive been paying for Workflowy and honestly, I’ve reached my limit of cost vs value.
I needed a way to do more than just bullets, like Evernote without the bloat, or OneNote/Notes without the megacorp, something I can export and read 100 years from now.
I was surprised how often I use it, and slowly weening off of Workflowy.
You weren’t kidding! This is a rollercoaster ride of incredible twists and turns!
The problem, according to three former Cooler Screens executives and a former Yahoo executive, was that their clients thought of the screens as “shopper marketing,” an old-timey ad category that covered in-store promos like the balloons or cardboard displays that clerks hang over cases of beer. Spending in this area was far lower than the more lucrative digital ad rates Avakian hoped to charge. One of the former Cooler Screens execs says that Avakian wanted marketing dollars well above what the industry was willing to pay and that his lieutenants could be preposterously condescending on calls with the Yahoo sales team, which at times devolved into shouting matches. “The Yahoo people hated them!” this former exec says. “Their MO was to ride them [Yahoo] like Secretariat.” (A Cooler Screens spokesperson says that this description is inaccurate and that Avakian’s relationship with Yahoo executives remained positive.)
Condescending calls with Yahoo sales team. Fucking hilarious.
If it helps, they also lock a lot of product, requiring employees to come and help customers directly.

It’s like they made their stores as hostile as possible to shop in.
They just keep finding interesting ways to fail!
Hell yeah Visual novels on Steam Deck!
I finally got into Steins Gate thanks to Steam Deck. I wasn’t able to keep my attention going when I played it on PC.
Holy cow.
I’ve used syncthing for years and think it’s great.
And I have the same problem as OP, where it’s a pain in one’s asshole to upload Steamdeck images without going into SteamOS and annoyingly plugging in a m+KB and spend a lot of time micromanaging the uploads.
At no point did I think to put thess two together! Great idea!
I know so many people in the iPhone treadmill. Like they buy a new phone because they have a iPhone 10 and now the 12 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max SSJ3 turbo Championship Edition They’re on 16 now?
I refuse to be part of that BS and I’m watching all the Steamdeck competitors release yearly iterations. Real sad.
Is it game devs? Or shitty fans who like to trivialize things for lolz or because they’re assholes?
(subconsciously picks up golf club)
To comment on the story, and SPOILERS FOR ANYBODY.
Yeah you’re not wrong. The last act after killing Andrew Ryan was pretty unfulfilling. It becomes a full blown first-person shooter.
In spite of that, Bioshock holds a special place on my heart. There’s some really really good level design and storytelling (both through the radio AND environmental storytelling) leading up to Andrew Ryan. I ranks up there with Half-Life 2 in terms of telling stories without hitting the player on the head.
Bioshock 2 and Infinite… Not so much.
You’re not the only one. I bought a Steam deck because why not. I didn’t have a use case.
But every month for a year, I continued to play more and more on Steam deck over PC.
It’s reaching a point where if i had to choose between upgrading my graphic card or buying the next iteration of a Steam Deck, I’m going for that next Steam Deck.
Me hooking up my PC to the TV. 🤮
Me using Steam Deck to play on my TV. 🤩
Politics in my sci-fi? Yuck.
Gonna go enjoy my politics-free shows like Star Trek, Star Wars, Black Mirror, Westworld, and The Man In the High Castle.
I never heard of bazzite before! Thank you for the recommendation!
You’re absolutely right!
At no point did I consider it being a entertainment system.
I think this is a great party idea.
Addy user here! Been using it for years now and just last week, I saw an uptick in one of my aliases. Turned it off with a single toggle and no more spam.
The ability to self-host is awesome if I ever get to that stage. But right now, I want to keep giving them money.
