I sort of get it. When you self host mastodon or lemmy, you have to deal with the moderation that comes with it. That’s a headache unless you have a ton of free time. Judging by the age distribution, I’m guessing most of us just want things to work so we can do what we enjoy.

My primary phone belongs to my work. I get a stipend every two years that essentially allows me to buy any supported phone I want.

The conditions are that it’s managed by them via MDM and all my work stuff is on the work profile side.

It is a choice I make since it allows me to not carry two phones. I did that for the first two years at my company and it was annoying.

I think the best course of action is to have a trust set up and have all of your assets under the trust. That’s how my attorney set up my end of life tasks. It saves you problems with probate and taxes while also giving you flexibility if you want to change things.

They probably wanted a completely virgin chain, one they had complete control over (socially anyway) so that they could see how it’s used and most importantly where the users come from.

I agree with this. Self-hosting requires the user to understand their network, their software, how it all interacts.

If you provide a hardware product and call it a solution, people are going to expect a turn-key solution like a plug-and-play router.

You’re going to end up supporting a bunch of newbies who, by no fault of their own, can’t tell you an error code in the console let alone whatever UI you give them.

I think a better solution would be a course that walks newbies through self hosting.

If you’re going to sell a DLC that is only a skin and people buy it, I don’t have an issue. A skin adds nothing outside of “looks” and it’s purely optional. If you the player want to pay for it, be my guest.

It’s when games release a game that is unfinished, has bugs, and what should be a patch is sold as a DLC, I have problems with that.

Or when DLC adds a competitive advantage, that is just wrong. Like for $5 a month, you get extra “stability” in your scope, or the whole “pride and accomplishment” crates.

Those DLCs can go fuck themselves.

That’s my method as well. That and a folder to hold all the receipts. When I sell the car, I print out the spreadsheet and then trash the receipts.

If ad domains can be resolved to their IPv6 addresses, it means that they are not blocked. Your device connects to the IPv6 address and serves the ad.

I can’t remember what the problem was but my window to rollback was closing so I reverted back to IPv4 only and pushed it to another day.

Do you mean that ISPs don’t regularly rotate your PD in practice? I’d actually prefer that they did to maintain a semblance of privacy.

An issue I had the last time I tried to set up IPv6 up was pihole didn’t work as well as I would have preferred. I assumed I just didn’t set up things correctly and it’s looking like that is the case based on the OP.

It kept resolving ad domains with their IPv6 address.
