In my experience, Seagate exos are only “loud/clicky” when under HEAVY write loads. Mostly they’re pretty quiet with a very low drone at worst. In any decent case it’ll be pretty negligible. With headphones on doubly so.

Possibly dumb question: why not use an Authentik outpost with a reverse proxy to enforce SSO? It wouldn’t be “baked in” so to speak, but it would be fully OIDC and as long as you’re just running it through a web browser. Biggest downside is you’d need 2 logins (one for the outpost and one for the app). I’d assume the sso is specifically for the extra security though, so that shouldn’t be a problem outside of it being a little hassle.
Remnant 2. Gotta finish Cyberpunk 2077 (again) first though. The damn DLC adding extra achievements has thrown everything off!
Isn’t AMD’s HEVC/265 still decent, specifically? I feel like I read that somewhere years back. 264 has always been a weak spot for them, however.
Very true. But brute force checking through tons of different settings for each camera you need to configure is not fun. I couldn’t seem to find any kind of “known working configs” database or anything either. Every camera seems to be different in what it expects, outputs, authenticates, etc. Once it’s set up, I agree, maintaining the config is easier. Having all your cameras match in model and firmware version probably makes the whole endeavor MUCH easier.
AmCrest and Frigate together are SO good. Integrating Frigate with Home Assistant was also insanely easy for quick viewing and notifications. That initial Frigate config is a bit of a bear- but once you’re past that I cannot speak more highly of it.

Proton experimental and (at least as of yesterday) I had to opt into bleeding edge beta as well or I’d just get black screen at launch.
No stuttering for me on Linux… Runs as good as it ever has but the visuals are even that much better due to the engine upgrades. Not a fan of the new UI, but the old UI was clunky too, so I can’t really say it’s even a step backwards.
My friends and I all LOVED the pick-up nature of SG1. We’re all adults with busy lives, so hopping into a ~5 minute casual match was just so easy. And the casual nature made it feel like we could have success without “grinding” the game. I guess that is explicitly not the intent of SG2.
The shift from “we’re making a fun and relatively casual arena shooter with a neat gimmick and extremely rewarding fundamentals” to “we’re making a generic e sport shooter” was swift and, frankly, uncalled for.
He retains the “Cold Take” name and property- so here’s hoping he continues it, whether that’s under some new media company or even just as a solo content creator.
Tribes 3 was missing all the secondary objectives stuff that made T2 so much more accessible. Even if you weren’t snapping crazy midair shots or cruising through fast flag caps you could still contribute via base attack or defense, vehicle support, etc. It felt like a crazy mix of arena shooter and early Battlefield games.
Yeah, but it’s pretty dead at this point past I checked. The devs teased a sequel and interest in the current iteration waned.
They actually had a neat solution to that in the form of some basic bots to help fill in for under-queued matches. Not too different from what Splitgate had going on (man, I miss that one too!) It gave beginners something to chew on a little bit. Would have been nice to have custom server options to tune bots and matches, like in Tribes 2. Apparently that kind of thing is simply too much to ask for.
To say that EVERYONE saw this coming may be an understatement. The moment the devs teased taking out the Honorball game mode and spinning it off into a completely separate game, the writing was on the wall. Possibly my favorite shooter series and it seems to be stuck in development purgatory. Even the unofficial Tribes-likes and other FPS-Z games can’t ever seem to find their footing.
I run mine with the actual photos on HDD but the database on SSD. So far everything has been near instantaneous for loading, downloading, uploading, you name it.
The Truecharts version of Qbittorrent has gluetun baked in as an option already. Initial configuration can be a bit of a pain depending on your VPN provider, but it seems to work beautifully once set up.
Yes, the total conversion package makes it self-contained in the steam library/store. It just checks that you own a legit copy of Skyrim to run it. It has its own steam page even, couldn’t be easier. Plus it’s free (assuming you own any edition of Skyrim) so it’s hard to pass up with so little risk aside from your time.
Rehabilitated HP z440 workstation, checking in! Popped in a used $20 e5-2620v4 xeon CPU and 64gb of RAM and it sails for my use cases. TrueNAS as the base OS and a TalOS k8’s cluster in a VM to handle apps. Old but gold.
