That’s really cool. I also heard about a Skyrim mod that does this too and since I’m playing Skyrim in VR (modded ofc) that would make it even cooler.

They’re probably going to install it through Google Play tho (if it’s available there) so it’d be pretty easy, and probably automatic, to update it

Are you trying to play the video on the Pi itself? Aren’t you using Jellyfin to watch it on other devices?

Big breakthroughs are still made when it comes to efficiency (so same or better quality for less processing power) and game devs will probably figure out how to best instruct the LLM to do what they want over time. I think there’s still a lot that will happen in that regard in the next few years until it starts to slow down.

Since I learned about LLMs when ChatGPT became popular, the one thing I wanted to see was games where you can actually talk to NPCs (using a locally running LLM like here, not using ChatGPT) and it’s cool to see that we’re getting closer and closer to that

So does a swap partition. I just meant that’s an option as an alternative to it. But now that I think about it, not enough RAM wouldn’t cause performance issues anyway, it would just cause random applications to stop working.

You can also just make a swap file, you won’t have to make partition that way

Might be worth adding a section for web UIs that make managing certain things easier. For example, Cockpit or Nginx Proxy Manager.

I actually bought a similar one with the same CPU. You’re not the first to recommend a mini PC with the N100, so it seems like it was the right choice haha.

I didn’t plan on paying much more than 100€ because it’s replacing my Pi but the one I bought can probably replace both my Pis. I just didn’t think about selling the other Pi as well before.

Actually, I found the Firebat T8 Pro Plus, which has an Intel N100, 16gb LPDDR5 RAM and a 512gb M.2 SSD. It’s more than 5 times faster than the Pi, has AV1 decoding and a power draw of 27W (not TDP, this number is from independent tests). It goes for 146€ on Aliexpress. It’s a little more than 100€ but for what I’m getting here, I think it’s worth it.

Interesting. I guess security wasn’t that good by default back then, firewalls are now set up by default on pretty much every server distro.

I can also buy an adapter and plug the drive in over USB. It would be nicer if it fit inside but it’s not that important.

Just looked around and there are mini PCs for around 130€ with Intel N100 CPUs, which have a 6W TDP, AV1 decoding and they beat an i5 6500T (that one’s in a 130€ Dell Optiplex I found on ebay) in single core and gets close enough in multicore. Is there some kind of catch I’m not seeing with that CPU? Because it looks perfect for my use case.

I actually use a dynamic IP and it works pretty well for me, I don’t remember having any issues because of that. Also, what happened after those two weeks to your server and how? I’ve been running my things for over 3 years and I haven’t done anything special in terms of security.

We use Grocy, specifically with the Android app. We only use the shopping list feature but it can do a lot more.
