If they stole the code that would be copyright infringement.

Wait… How do Trade Secrets work?
I thought that the individuals might be in legal trouble if they violate NDAs or No Compete clauses but that once the “secret” was out it was fair game.

“detachable metal shrapnel”?

There is an interesting list here;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_Nintendo_Switch_video_games
Nintendo includes sales numbers for there successful games in their financial reports so they are well represented but wikipedia also includes 3rd party figures when the publisher has released the numbers.
The top 5 3rd party titles*:
* I have overlooked titles like Pokemon and Hyrule Warriors as they are published by Nintendo in some regions.

Its just a warning, if the game is still active people can still access it.

I think Sims 1 was physical only.
As a digital product EA halted distribution of the Sims 2 with very little notice:
On July 16, 2014, Electronic Arts announced the end of support for The Sims 2. As a response, The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection was released at the same time as a limited time offer. The game became available for free download from Origin exclusively following an announcement by EA that they would no longer be supporting the game. This offer ended at 10:00 PDT July 31, 2014.

Oddly it looks like Mac got a version via another distributor not long after ?!

I feel like I’ve been hearing this since odyssey.

I don’t like the idea of it needing to be patched in.
At launch advanced graphics mode settings could be something that is disabled by default but unlockable (via config.ini setting, console command, cheat code, whatever). Really the implementation isn’t what’s important, just that it is opt-in and the user knows that are leaving the normal settings and entering something that may not work as expected.
Then if they are still supporting the game later the defaults can be changed with a patch but if the devs don’t have that opportunity the community can still document this behaviour on sites like www.pcgamingwiki.com.

It would instantly break compatibility with >99% of windows software.
They are trying with Windows S but i don’t think it has much of a market.

The adguard DNS is pretty alright.

Skip the app and expand option 2 for instructions for configuring most major platforms.

Crazy talk!
It offered some navigational choices within each level from the Medical Pavilion on.

It feels a bit late…

They are not talking about a new platform, but finding a more distinct voice as a publisher
Sega had that kind of style [back then]. Sega’s position was like, ‘If you have attitude, Sega’s the company for you, rather than Nintendo’, because of the games, because of the style, because of coolness or the kind of attitude. We have such beautiful content value in Sega, and some other IPs, so we’re trying to revive it with a little bit of the flavour of hip-hop now.

What’s next, the superhero landing?
A different branch on IP law but for decades Marvel and DC had a shared trademark on “Super Hero”.
If either felt they could argue it was a unique trade identifier they would have claimed it exclusively but instead they claimed shared ownership and used it to lock out competition in the space from 1979 to 2024.

The article says they had three projects in the works funded by take 2, square enix, microsoft. Take 2 backed off and square enix reduced the budget/scope. This leaves the microsoft project as the remaining project with its original budget intact.
Are you saying that take 2 and square enix’s actions are attributable to game pass?

As part of a settlement first announced in December 2022, the FTC obtained an order requiring Epic Games to pay $245 million to resolve allegations that the game maker used design tactics known as dark patterns to trick players into making unwanted purchases, let children rack up unauthorized charges without any parental involvement, and blocked some users who disputed unauthorized charges from accessing their purchased content. The FTC alleged that Fortnite’s counterintuitive, inconsistent, and confusing button configuration led players of all ages to incur unwanted charges based on the press of a single button. For example, players could be charged while attempting to wake the game from sleep mode, while the game was in a loading screen, or by pressing an adjacent button while attempting simply to preview an item.
Cool that they are getting into the weeds looking at UI design.
My son and I are very casual players and it always seemed scammy how much they push spending vbucks to boost though the season pass. To my mind that should be an uncommon occurrence and presented as a secondary option, but of course Epic presents it as perfectly normal selecting the button as default on some screens.
Weird sales pitch. I’m not sure who he is trying to appeal to here?
