Office chairs cause back pain, just like gaming chairs.

What you really want is a nice recliner and a big TV. Keyboard in lap, mouse on arm rest (or end table). I’ve been computing this way since 2008 and I’ll never go back to a desk ever again.

  • Depends on whether the batteries were hooked up in either series or parallel. Later GameBoys only needed 2 batteries but required the same voltage, so I’m guessing that the OG GB is wired in series-parallel.

So in other words, you need at least two batteries to be good for this to work in the OG GB. Later editions need both batteries to hold a charge to reach 3V.

  • Never play Starfield; it’ll make you hate Bethesda, especially Emil Pagliarulo (the lead designer and writer of the story).

I used to feel the same way as you, until I played it. Now I have zero interest in anything Bethesda has coming out in the future. They’ve proven to me that they’re incapable of making a modern game with a good story. Only thing that would convince me to play another title of theirs is if they finally ditch Gamebryo and never let Emil in the writer’s room ever again, two things that’ll never happen.

  • Recent? They’ve been pulling bullshit moves like this since the 80s, when they successfully killed off the game rental market in Japan. To this day you still can’t rent games in that country.

This is why it’s always morally correct to pirate Nintendo games, and thankfully Nintendo consoles have had a history of being among the easiest to emulate, especially the N64, Wii, and Switch. All three of those systems had working emulators while the consoles themselves were still in their peak years.

  • The graphics are actually really dated. I don’t use Reshade very often, but for this game it’s necessary if you want even basic things like ambient occlusion (seriously, the shadows and lighting are so bad in this game).

But yeah, “corporate RPG” is correct. The game checks nearly every box for what you’d expect from a Bethesda game, but the game is just so soulless and boring. Bethesda doesn’t write the best stories but they really dropped the ball on this one. At no point did I form any sort of feelings for the characters. They never have anything interesting to say nor give me any reason to care if they live or die.

  • Is Morrowind the one where you get quests by following directions on a note, or am I thinking of a different RPG?

I have severe ADHD; I need a waypoint marker or I can’t play the game. If I have to follow instructions on a piece of paper, I’ll just get lost, frustrated, and never find the place. I can’t remember names of locations, and I forget something I read or heard literally seconds after reading/hearing it. It makes oldschool RPGs—and life in general—much harder than it needs to be.
