(IIRC) the changes are reverted after each update so you’d have to re-install every app.

SteamOS is immutable, so you can’t install system-wide apps on there, only flatpaks, appimages etc.

Heroic launcher is also an option for EGS on Linux.

Valve really going against the grain and implementing actually great features instead of AI or some subscription shit.

Also texture/resource packs are also technically mods, because you are modifying the game’s resources and packs are officially supported.
