I’m interested now if Minecraft ever had a physical copy. I did get a demo on disc with Maximum PC magazine back in like 2011-12 and then bought the full version online a few months later for around $9, still can’t believe I’m getting free major content updates in that same game

The ToS can’t take precedence over local consumer laws. That doesn’t change the fact in most cases you only own a licence to access the game not the game itself

Also OP would have accepted tos which no doubt set out you don’t own the game only a licence to access the game, once it moved off their platform they offered a refund… Shit yes but it’s what everyone signed up for when they kept paying steam

Steam used to give a free auto refund with less than 2 hours of play time, donno if they still do.

Now I just pirate a game to check it out and if I’m still playing it when the next update comes out then I buy it

I’ve never played any of the paydays so yeah I’m not sure, some multiplayer can work with self hosted servers etc.

But yeah if it’s only official servers even more reseaon not to pay for the service

I don’t understand why anybody would pay for it while it can be cracked… sure its likely only one person in the world can crack it atm but if she wants to crack it she can and then it’s gonna be uploaded and repacked by multiple people.

I didn’t want it, still don’t. I actively avoided any game that required it but seems I gave up on 23 July 2011
