Old games from archive.org always seem more fun than newer games. Doom is SO FUN and it was made in 1993!

lol it happens
So, self hosting is complicated. Everyone in this comment section has had tons of experience with it. I tried Plex, failed. Jellyfin, didn’t connect. Entire OSes on a raspberry pi, didn’t work.
I don’t know your situation but for me giving up and just keeping it stored on my phone and manually updating is good enough.
was mentioned in the post
That hurts in the same way as the time I saw someone on reddit say that an early 3d printer fire burnt their house down… and their cat.
kenshi is also an awesome game on an old engine. Very excited for the sequel using unreal engine that’s coming out in probably 10 years because the indie devs want to release a finished product
They should be forced to make buyers own it instead of another popup nobody reads.
It COULD become a good change if games get backlash for having the popup but when 90% of games have it nobody will care.
This just gives the “well you didn’t read the TOS so it’s actually your fault” idiots more talking points.
Could go either way but I assume it wont change much.
I disagree. I like GOOD games. It just so happens that 90% of the good games are singleplayer. Deep Rock Galactic and Minecraft are pretty much the only 2 multiplayer games I think are better with other people (strangers, not like playing with family).
Also I MUST bring this up every chance I get. Lemmy.world has a Minecraft server that isn’t pay to win and I need people to play with. Am lonely, please join. :)
average Lemmy conversion lol
Its literally the prisoners dilemma but they’re too greedy to look at it factually 😭

iirc the owner was a mod of a Linux sub and banned people for saying mods were corrupt. Aka what has happened at least once on 50% of reddit subs.
something something Italian senate something something tifa
look at the TF2 bot crisis, some people thought (btw I’m so glad I can say thought and not think) that making VAC kernal level would fix it when in reality like 2 employees could’ve fixed a ton of the botting issues
ooo looks cool, for some reason it reminds me of splatoon
Valve isn’t perfect though. Especially when it comes to owning games. I couldn’t use Asprite on my laptop on my schools wifi because it couldn’t verify that I own a 1gb program to draw pixels. Disabling wifi didn’t help either. Still made up it’s mind on not letting me make sprites for my school assignment till I connected it to my home wifi.
The best part? There’s literally a free version that’s not on steam that I purposely didn’t download because I wanted to support the dev!
