You are not wrong that is not mandatory. However, my advice usually for people starting on self hosting that most often than not it is better to over spec a bit more always on HDD, and second the ram. But since prices for ram went to shit, over spec the HDD is still an option for some.
Tell that to my are stack

You mean the arson connector? Shout out to dawid

You do have a good point that at a certain point it is not possible to have assurances as in values. However, there are other assurances that can be even more important, such as, contractual ones. If they do not have the proper assurances at that level too up to a certain point, then everyone is highly blindsided on the c suite.
But my biggest point has to do with burning a massive bridge, the consumers, and take a dive into this nonsense.

You are not wrong about the reallocation part. However, if you see the actions from micron (fuck you micron BTW), they are going all in and having a shit storm in PR on the consumer side. If they are taking these risks without proper assurances, then they are utterly deranged

For the dram unfortunately won’t be possible to use it in the consumer space, at least not in the current form. Hbm is really server stuff, and as is, you cannot repurpose it. As for the GPUs, maybe they can be used for the consumer space but I am not entirely sure the specs would be wise to use it at home, since they need some very serious cooling capabilities, as well electricity consumption. Biggest winners of this pop in my opinion would be anyone who need cheap server rack stuff.

As long am4 and 12th gen survives on these dark times we got chances of getting through this

And if the reminders are not set on a mailing list and you have no one looking at that, someone failed hard

A lot what you mention is for sure true. My problem usually is deferring infra work to people that should not do it. More often than not I see so called “devops teams”, and once I see the elements on those, is very clear people that are actually for infra are either insufficient, missing, or straight up not enough permissions to do stuff. Yo would be shocked how many times I hear managers say " ah well, I bet one ofb our developers knows how to do infra work"

There are tools to actually remind you to do this on a timely fashion… Also, some of them go as far as doing auto renewal. Is this such a hard thing?

Pretty much yes

Did you try to run the native windows version and see how it works?
One of the biggest problems right now is AI=LLM which could not be further from the truth
I still find in general super creepy that anti cheat systems (most of them) insist on having kernel access instead of using, you know, actual statistics and machine learning.

I do have a question playing this game: how many decided to play with French language and subs? Somehow it feels that is the way intended with this game

The article is probably not wrong pointing out the price at this point for Intel. However, at least am5 side (maybe am4? Amd refuses to let am4 die) there will be more CPUs releasing. Meaning, you will have to spend a lot less to jump to a newer CPU (while the rest stays. The boards will probably need a bios update, but that’s it).
For this to be actually good to go with Intel, the motherboard would have to be almost no cost via bundles or something (good price, offering boards outright would be amazing but very unlikely).

Slaying pillows in dream tactics

Will do after I get the chance
That is some wild shit. Anyways for anyone else somewhat new to all this: when hosting anything, try to stick to reputable projects 1st and be always wary of shady installation tactics (I believe yesterday someone posted about curl bash. This is just a single example). If you want to try something new (as in brand new project), try it isolated 1st on some VM (proxmox helps a lot with this). When you are confident and more people give an approval, then think about putting on the main environment
