That’s awesome. Thanks for posting the pics and assembly.

Disappointed to hear this, but it sounds like they made the decision for good reasons at least. Their games are all standouts in an underserved genre.
Journey, and more recently Tunic, both had soundtracks that complemented their gameplay really well.
The Freespace games are legendary in that genre. Probably second only to TIE Fighter.
That’s awesome to hear. I’m looking to set up some self-hosted stuff, and I see a lot of recommendations for Tailscale for the VPN element.
Yeah this is just them crying trying to get regulators to allow the Activision merger.
That’s interesting. I had thought of doing TrueNAS Scale as a VM running in Proxmox, but you’re suggesting have TrueNAS itself be the bare-metal hypervisor? What do you find annoying about Proxmox?
Yeah I think this is more a compatibility filter. If it’s an interest of yours and makes you happy, there is no cutoff.
Hard agree, and you can see some success stories here and there where communities get municipal broadband up and running. Legacy companies and GOP legislators on their payroll are very hostile to this however, preferring to loot the Treasury (in the form of subsidies) and continue delivering subpar service. Would be cool to see at a state/national level though.
Oh yeah, this was definitely in my Gameboy library.
I think as a turn-key solution, the prebuilt enclosures are fine. I have a two-bay Synology that works well. If you’ve already got components though, DIY is probably going to give you a lot more granular control. I’m planning on building out a home server rack including a TrueNAS VM or something similar.
Oh great, another pivot to video. I feel like the lesson wasn’t learned the first time around.
Good point about crossplay (also cross-save through bnet); it’s platform agnostic from that standpoint. I’ve been on PS5 and found the console experience to be pretty good. The game plays well on a controller.
Yeah it’s a special game, and a masterclass in “show, don’t tell” exposition.
