  • just beat a difficult game about climbing and i loved it! it’s the only other game in the genre that has risen to the heights of getting over it in terms of gameplay mechanics and level design.

if anyone reading this knows about a community for these types of games (foddian? getting over it-likes?), please send it my way. i love these games to bits and have so much to say about them but to my knowledge basically no one cares about these games outside of watching people on twitch get angry at them.

looking forward to playing return of the obra dinn, then i’ll probably start speedrunning the climbing game until baby steps releases lol

  • i think the problem a lot of people (myself included) have specifically with nudity on twitch is with the streamers whose streams are basically just porn. now there’s nothing inherently wrong with porn, nudity, or sex work on the internet or in real life, but the issue comes in when you put people who are essentially sex workers on the same video game streaming site many young people visit for non-sexual content. now porn is available and popular on their favorite game streaming site, and it is being forcibly recommended to users who have never browsed that category of content on twitch before.

pretty much all i watch on twitch is super mario 64 speedruns, but 9/10 times when i log in my first recommended channel is a streamer with their tits out doing jumping jacks in a hot tub or something. i can only imagine this is happening to a large percentage of other users as well, including younger users who could be easily manipulated by an attractive and interactive woman online heavily incentivizing them to donate money.

it basically boils down to: i don’t care that porn is on the site, but it should not be recommended to people who are not already browsing that content as that is not what i’m there to see.

edit - re-reading the changes, i’m hoping that the stream visibility and content label changes would fix this issue.

  • its different from the other ones, mostly in terms of ui and game feel, but it plays the most like 3. the caves are great so far (if a little short, but there is still plenty more for me to do), overall its just been lots of fun but i do wish it was a little harder. The big areas are super cool, and the design improvements allow you to just go diving into any caves or dandori battles you find in your travels without having to worry about where are my pikmin, do i have everyone, do i have the right types, etc.

would definitely recommend it to any pikmin fans

  • so far i’ve tried:

    • wizard with a gun: didn’t love it, felt a little too slow and repetitive for me. gonna have to wait and see what the full game looks like.
    • fortune’s run: this game goes so hard, can’t wait for it to release. if you like imm sims check this out. this is one of those games that isn’t lying about the difficulty - even medium is pretty challenging. also the music is good enough to make me wish they released soundtracks for demos

excited to try valley peaks, viewfinder, and hammerwatch 2 whenever i get a chance

  • i think it looks pretty good, but there are some things in the trailer that i’m not sure about.

    • they showed a lot of pikmin types, i think all of them from every game plus the new ones? this is a worry of mine unless they made enough different areas to make you feel like you don’t need every type on every expedition.
    • still not sure how to feel about the dog
    • really glad they’re bringing back caves, but the pikmin 2 versus mode-esque battles seem weird
    • the night expeditions seem sort of interesting, curious about what purpose they serve
    • not sure how to feel about the upgrade shops and currency, hope they do it well

overall, theres a lot of new stuff and returning features that were missing in pikmin 3 for us to be excited about. seems like they want to go more of an open world, choose your own adventure style of progression in favor of how in previous games you had to defeat x boss or get y treasure to unlock a new area.

i just hope its longer than pikmin 3 mostly
