  • Despite the breach, LastPass has been pretty solid for me for over a decade. Syncs across devices, easy sharing between family members, etc. If your master pw and iteration counts are in the green, even them losing your data is relatively low risk, apart from exposing the sites you have accounts for, which is equal parts privacy & security issue. If I wasn’t so invested in LP, I would probably go elsewhere but since the horse has bolted…

I’ve also heard good things about Bitwarden and KeePass but can’t speak to how easy they are to set up.

  • given that hauling new metals out of the ground and refining them is a messy and energy-intensive business.

Still easier than dismantling a phone. That’s why we’re in this position. I was vaguely involved in some research looking at this, and to be economically viable (this was several years ago, so hopefully things are improving), you had about 30 seconds per phone to reclaim the valuable stuff before it cost less to mine it. You can barely get the cover open in that time.

  • More thought on hiding posts:

    • Definitely should be an option. Manual could be swipe left on post. My home feed currently has 2 large stickied posts at the top and id love to hide them permanently. Id also like the option of hide when opened and hide on scroll like Apollo.
    • In wefwef.app’s Profile tab, you can see your Posts and Comments. Something like that with an extra option for Hidden posts (again, like Apollo), perhaps with the possibility of notifications / icons showing if there is new activity on them?
    • Replies to your own comments still in the inbox, so much less chance of missing those. So much potential to keep improving. I’m working with several apps side by side atm, but definitely keep coming back to Memmy. Except for this reply, as finding my comment was easier in wefwef :(

  • Almost right. Printers and scanners were not built by people. They are an independent life form that just happens to emulate office equipment for their own benefit. They have enabled parasitic entities such as Canon and HP to thrive alongside them, but since there is no ‘design’ involved, they will never really develop the same kind of interfaces we expect from modern UX labs.

It’s also the reason any sane person keeps a loaded gun nearby whenever interacting with them, just in case they make any unusual noises.
