Some people enjoy the security camera genre of games. Its just very niche though, as its sorta like a spinoff of tower defense.
From what i know, unreal offers easier cross platform multiplayer support and eac is easy to integrate to titles.
The problem not to conflate is good for developer does not always equal good for consumer. If your making it easier on the developer for multiplayer, by putting an extra burden of a login on the user, thats still a worse consumer experience.

yeah i only put 500 as its the MSRP, its actually lower than that. more of the point is, if someones claiming that 500$ is expensive because its a meta product, they weren’t even intending to go into VR, as the HP Reverb, and what it sort of replaced before that, the Samsung Oddessey+, were sub 500 for a long time.
Its less about immedoate profit and more about pumping up gamepass numbers under one umbrella for investors to see a large number increase. Its part of the reason why Xbox Live Gold has been rebranded into Gamepass Core. Microsoft supposedly is under their sub projection (despite having about 40M subs) and trying to pump the numbers as much as possible.
Overwatch makes no sense given its a feee game. Unless your implying gamepass pays for the battlepass, as the game moving to gamepass would be a detriment on console as it does not require gamepass core to play (as its free)

Then you get into the debate of who can and cant afford something, which goes nack to the idea that a more specific definition is a bad one.
Im terms of a perfect filter, not exactly, hence the best method for those crowds would be having a curated list, rather than applying said defition to all users…the users would know more about games tham someone hired at valve who would check a game for basic functionalities and doesnt evem finish the game (there have been times where a game would get verified, but has something broken late into the game). A curator would be able to adjust lists and add remove them as new updates happen that might add/remove functionality, something valve isnt going to revisit after getting a verified status.
It is an optional solution. You could choose to have a wifi hotspot as well, or be in a location offering wifi. Its having the specific uaecase of refusing to use any of the 3 is saying, “I dont do this, therefore i want the definition changed” even though the changed definition doesn’t apply to everyone.
The current definition of steam verified is very basic, and should stay basic. And people should adjust their filters for their definition instead of valve picking a more precise definition, and the definition being illogical for other usecases
Using filters or creating/joining a curators list is precisely what you should do for more specific situations.

Saying that no game with muliplayer only (e.g mmos) cant get verified is a very specific category.

The point is it’s playerbases are in a similar tier in size. Of course its your opinion that battlebit is better (and is mine too), but that doesnt stop the idea that there are plenty of people playing 2042 now (especially vs launch). I have a friend who has both games, but when hes playing alone, he more often boots up battlefield more often then battlebit, and he spends a LOT of time playing those games more tham the rest of his library.
I dont believe fluid frames reuires motion vectors as a hard requirement, else the driver level option where you force a game to use the function would never work (which is a feature).
However so far, fluid frames is only available on DX11 and DX12 titles, so many emulators would not have acess to the option. Switch emulation, and PS3 emulation which would need it the most, dont use directx

The populations of the games at the current moment arent even that far off, Battlebit is at 8k, 2042 is at 5k+whatever the number plays on origin.
Battlefield has a LONG history of always releasing in a shit start and getting better overtime. This trend has happened for the past several games (since after 3 I believe)
Thats the main goal imo. Theyre not teying to compete with the high end devices, all of them will likely download steam and give Valve money anyways. Valve always targets on expanding the market, with vr and such. The Steam Deck exists to expand the market to budget pc console like gaming, and it would not make sense to replace it now.
Valve I dont believe sees it like a cellphone where theyre trying to make more money by doing yearly releases. They arent a hardware company fundamentally. They only develop hardware as a means to expand market, not to make profit directly off of.
Its why virtually none of their hardware projects are bog standard, be it steam machine/deck(Linux market), index/vive (VR), Controller (touchpad, HD Rumble), Link(local streaming) as each project was designed to introduce pc gaming to a new market, or expand pc gaming by adding new features
Aoe2 since the release of definitive edition in 2019 has consistently been releasing new expansions. Because it has dedicated and fairly sizable fan base.
It also got its xbox console release earlier this year.
