Great that ASUS is helping handheld PC gaming advance but from a consumer perspective, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone buying ASUS products.
Their customer service is legendary for being abysmal and for something like the Ally you need good support.
I’m in the same boat but having a blast with FO76. I’m glad I waited since the rocky launch back in 2018 - while the game is still far from perfect, it’s a lot of fun to play and Bethesda did a good job fixing up the game.
You know what an even better take is? “We hear you, we’ll take your feedback” or just as good, say nothing at all.
Arguing that you are smarter or wiser than your users / customers is paradoxical. You are by definition not smart if you attempt to do this.

I crank up all the performance settings and keep Ling’s website on 24x7. Nothing makes a more decadent fume than running state-of-the-art portable gaming hardware on shitty web code. Can’t beat the high off of Steam Deck engineers’ imaginary tears.

By definition Beta is going to have bugs and given enough time and effort Valve will find it. But you wanted the updates faster and that’s the cross you bear by switching to Beta. What happened to you sucks but if you don’t want to catch bugs then switch to prod / stable channel, simple.
Question for you since you work in dev. How annoyed do you get when users confuse beta with prod?
Yeah, I’m still playing a fair bit of GamePass on the Deck (Starfield!) I used the method via Microsoft’s official support article and it’s holding up pretty well.
The pickaxe is a better analogy. Unity engine is a tool that devs could leverage to build a great selling game, and the price-per-swing is a nice way to encapsulate the absurdity of Unity’s new fee structure.
OP is flagging a legitimate issue that can actually put instance owners at risk. Raising the issue that instance owners can unwittingly host illegal content and be liable for it - how is that entitled?
Totally understand that Lemmy devs are a small team, but the growth of use of the software is exploding now, and not being able to keep up is a problem of scale - gatekeeping others from raising issues does not help it get better and in fact discourages issue reports and promotes a head-in-the-sand culture.
I’m not sure if I’d describe RE7 as a slow-paced trip. It got pretty freaking terrifying pretty quickly. And since it’s first-person it plays quite differently than RE2/4. But it’s a must-play as I think it’s the inflection point in the RE series where the survival horror aspects really got good again.
Yep, and it’s even worse for mobile apps because people are so used to the terrible dollar-per-app model, despite the fact that these mobile apps are actually THE software they use everyday.
Apple and Google don’t care, they get 30% cut regardless whether the dev makes $100 / sale or $1 / sale at higher volume. But it was a good strategy to shift the power over to the iOS and Android platforms because the perception is, dollar-per-app devs can’t be that important, right? And they’ll never get too big.
Apple and Google app stores had done devs dirty by popularizing the dollar-an-app model. Completely set the wrong expectations about the value of software for users, especially younger ones who grew up with this bs.

App development isn’t and never has been an one-time done deal. Devs always do the work to fix bugs, add new features / requests, upgrade to new platform / API etc. If they do this for free that is at their will but they are burning their own time / money one way or another. To demand a developer to run their business a certain way and mandate their business model is just mind-blowing to me.

Few times a week, way more often than any other devices that’s not my phone. The way that it makes PC gaming accessible and portable is amazing.
Like the other commenter said, maintaining login session is a bit of a pain (particularly where online functionality is important in the gaming experience like Death Stranding) but it mostly works.
Cloud Save is definitely one of the big flaws. I barely salvaged my Death Stranding save after a Proton version switch (DO NOT do this for a game you have a lot of saves with), because Heroic doesn’t do automatic cloud Save (or maybe it does but it’s Beta? I don’t recall).
You don’t have a problem. Neither do I.
Sniffs vent
It’s server-based so you need to be online to play. However you can pretty much play it solo without interacting with other players (which is how I generally play it, save the occasional events and challenges).
They’ve added significant amount of content post-launch which includes new locations, NPCs, missions etc so it’s not too bad, although I would say NPCs aren’t as well put together as other Fallout games.
