This is the best, most succinct, and fair assessment I’ve seen of Starfield since launch.

Man Outer Worlds was so cringe to me. I tried really hard to get into it but it felt like it just kept rehashing the same jokes over and over. “Haha I’m owned by a company and they’re cheap and I’m silly!” Just over and over and over. After 10-15hrs I put it down for good.

It’s like someone delivering a punch line and waiting awkwardly for the chuckles packaged into a game.

that lacks polish

I’d say creation engine is showing its age more than it lacks polish. The game looks pretty good and I’ve encountered virtually no bugs so far. People’s faces are a bit off though, as many have pointed out.

People keep saying this but I’d say at worst Ubisoft does games in pairs, occasionally trios. If you play AC: Odyssey and AC: Black Flag, I assure you they will be VERY different experiences. Mechanics/combat alone are a huge distinguishing factor.

This is a common misconception. NPR does not receive any of the US federal budget. They just apply for and win federal grants like many others can.

No more than you can say that about any organization/business that has ever received a grant or government contracts. This is a common misconception. They are not in the budget for US.

By Musk’s definition SpaceX is “funded by the state.” And far more than NPR is.

It’s pretty scummy behavior

I can’t speak for everyone else, but the only recommendations I want to see are ones directly relevant to the video I have pulled up in front of me. I can get why that is not exactly what everyone wants though.

AMD handles its version of CIP and Telemetry in arguably the most transparent manner. The installer of AMD Software Adrenalin presents the option to prevent its data-collection tool from being enabled at the completion of driver installation, regardless of whether you’ve chosen the “typical,” “driver only,” or “custom” install options. There’s an entire page of the installer dedicated to this, you see a large checkbox about data-collection that’s checked by default, but which you can uncheck, and complete installation.

Companies don’t even try to spin it anymore. There is no reason any of us need this.

I swear 40-50% of all dialogue, interactions, etc. reflect the character I built. It is insane. They made D&D into a video game. They actually did it.
