Ah, I misunderstood the point you were making, I apologize for my assumptions.
Much as I hate ads (and especially targeted ads which involve datamining by corporations), I’m still not convinced this is something that can win in court, but I do see the distinction you are drawing.
There have been numerous studies debunking links between violent video games and violence. This is the 80’s Satanic Panic all over again with a different wrapper and target.
400 police failed them, not activision. Then they voted for the same leadership at the next election. It’s like everyone from the first responders onward just takes turns reacting to this shooting in head scratching ways.
They voted back in all the same leadership at an election not long after. Having made that decision, I find this to be less surprising than it might have been.
Seriously. What would be surprising is if they were not. Proprietary System gonna Proprietary System.
Wow, I thought for sure this was BS, but just tried it and got the same response as OP and you. Interesting.
My fingers didn’t type what my brain was thinking, sorry. I can see how that makes no sense.
I spent just a few minutes with it and I like it a lot. I swear it’s more responsive than actual trello! :D
You’ve missed out on some lively debate then.
Edit: In response to my very comment.
I thought you were actually curious. We can agree to disagree.
The usual argument against pre-emptive defederation goes something like, “Well we should wait to see what kind of influence they will be on the fediverse.”

We know what kind of influence they will be. They will be the most anti-consumer, exploitative influence the law will allow, and probably a little bit more than that, because it’s been their entire history, and every few days we get another headline confirming that it’s who they are.
And while there is a lot they can do even if many instances refuse to federate with them, there’s no good argument for going along willingly, IMO.
Link this next time someone is complaining how unfair it is to refuse to federate with Threads.
This is from 2020. You absolutely can use Little Snitch or a similar firewall to block this traffic.
We agree how sinister and dystopian it is to need to work against your hardware/os vendor for something like this though, right?
Shutup 10 exists, but that doesn’t make it OK that Windows users have to continuously be on guard for MS to try snooping on them, either.
I remain convinced he’s killing it on purpose. I don’t know a plausible motive, but I guarantee it’s on purpose.
I have servers on Digital Ocean and Linode and also one in my basement, and have had no problem. I do have all services behind NPM (not to suggest it’s a panacea) and use HTTPS/SSH for everything. (not to suggest HTTPS/SSH are either) My use case could be different than yours - my immediate family are my only consumers - but have been running the same services in those locations for a few years now without issue.
