I’d like that to be “new”, but… It’s not exactly the first time this exact thing happened in tech.

I mean, maybe it is, but if so then it’s way above my level. :D
I’m not a native speaker either, but I see maybe one minor mistake. I think that person is overreacting, or maybe just doesn’t actually know English grammar that well.
I don’t think being open matters here, it’s the part where it’s developed by big bad China.
All of these threats apply to other LLMs as well.
Calling that Hitman bullshit “confusing” is way too charitable.
Not too long ago Steam listed something called “Hitman 3” (they changed it now).
Imagine my surprise when it turned out to include only the game launcher, without any actual content that could be reasonably called “Hitman 3”. If you tried to start a mission they redirected you to buy it first…
Thank god for the refunds…
Well, let’s wait and see until the actual release.
The first part of the remake was not exactly a great port (not on the release day anyway).
It really doesn’t. Since a few years it’s basically plug and play.
Last I checked 7900 GRE looked good for perf/price ratio.
But I’d wait for AMD to finally announce details and pricing for new gen, I think it’s a bad moment to buy a new GPU until all Nvidia and AMD announcements are done.
Or you could consider alternatives, since Nvidia abusing their market position and customers not caring is exactly why the prices keep going up.
His latest game looks like yet another version of Bioshock, so that’s kind of a funny thing to say.
Yeah, I tried it for a bit 1 or 2 years ago and didn’t see much difference.
Only cool thing was the automatic summaries with sources, but the I found out LLM summaries are like everything else “AI” - unreliable, at best, so…
And besides… aren’t AI features getting pushed in Kagi heavily?
Weird idea to use it as an argument against Google and DDG, but conveniently ignore it for Kagi.
Bigscreen Beyond
Yeah, it does look pretty nice, but no Linux support, especially at this price, makes it a no-go for me. :(
edit: well, shit, apparently it doesn’t do any proprietary bullshit and uses generic protocols, and reportedly works fine on Linux.
Might have to consider it after all…
It’s great, especially the controllers - there’s nothing else like it.
And, well, it’s the only headset making any claims about Linux compatibility, which is also a big thing for me.
But your concern is the exact reason I’m not sure I can recommend it.
Of course, Valve works on Valve Time, so the chances Deckard will release next month are basically the same as it releasing anytime in the next decade.
When it originally launched, I feared it would go the same way as Valve’s previous inventions in the VR
What the hell is she talking about?
Index still gets regular updates and it still doesn’t really have any competition at its price point (Quest with its ridiculous account requirements doesn’t count).
Just because Index was not a massive success due to its significantly higher cost doesn’t mean it’s a failure, and it’s far from abandoned.
Why? Sounds to me pretty good that people won’t actually lose their jobs over numbers on corporate spreadsheets.
Also, why do these replacement screens always insist on increasing the resolution?
The low res is one of the main reasons the Deck holds up as well as it does.
I wonder if people realize that cyberpunk is meant to be a dystopian satire, and not just a cool aesthetic
No, they don’t… For years now most people have considered cyberpunk to be just “rainy cityscape with neons”.
But it’s not that surprising, since a lot of us already do live in a cyberpunk world, except for some of the advanced technologies usually appearing in the genre.
That’s not why. There’s a very high chance Valve is actively working on new standalone VR since some years, there are regular leaks confirming some progress.
And they claim “zero vendor lock-in”.
Exporting your content from whatever weird format they’re using in the DB isn’t exactly making the switch easy.
