This was ONE GUY??? What a legend! I hope his family knows the giant positive impact he’s had on so many people, and is able to find some sort of comfort knowing he will be missed by so many strangers. A true tragedy.

Personally, I would use a simple spreadsheet for this.
But if you have your heart set on a db, you can use Access or LibreOffice Base for ease of initial setup.
Maybe SQL (or PRQL, if you’re feeling cutting edge) with some dbms (SSMS Community I think is still free, or maybe Heidi SQL) but this will require you maintain a server as well. PostgreSQL is what I generally use if I want to spin up something quickly. I do like SQL quite a bit, but it seems overkill for this task.

Ha! As far as theories go, this one will remain just a theory hahaha
What’s bucket budgeting?
Edit: [sigh] all I needed to do was search the term… sorry everyone
Gotcha. Ok. This article makes a whole lot more sense now. Thank you!!
…Yet both Android and Apple phones use MEMS silicon for their devices, so why were only Apple phones affected? The answer, it seems, is because Apple recently defected from traditional quartz-based clocks in its phones in favor of clocks that are also made of MEMS silicon.
So, they ask the question of why iPhones are the only ones affected if androids also went to MEMS, then answer it by saying that apple went to MEMS. Are they saying that the clocks in Androids still use quartz, but iPhones use MEMS clocks, even though they both use general MEMS silicon?

I had no idea this had a self-hosted platform category. Cool!
that sounds like a value added write up.
No mitigation method… am I reading this right?
Lowercase .lan uppercase .LAN…
Straight to jail
We use libreNMS. Its docs state that it will do this, but we only use the uptime monitoring feature, so I can’t arrest as to how well it will monitor everything else.
If the db gets corrupted, you lose your notes? Or are the notes stored in md files?
I mean… they do have protein, fruits, and such, so, yes. But I was craving some pasta. I guess a crepe is like a sweet pasta. I did feel the craving vanish… …
I was traveling this week, and saw a couple very obviously AI-generated billboards for the city’s downtown. Something about downtown eats or something. They were, and I’m being extremely nice here, absolutely hideous. I have never, in all my life, seen such ugly billboards. And, while they were different, they were basically the same thing (does that make sense? Them being different, but the same? Not really sure how else to describe it). I was actually looking for a place to eat, and those things deterred me from going downtown. Ended up finding this cute little coffeeshop in some random side road. No food, but holy crap the coffee and crepes were good!
Descent is what got me into gaming. I mean, I occasionally gamed before, but never like after discovering Descent.
TIL these exist. Neat.
Honorable goal. But it won’t work. From a business’s perspective, hosting such a server adds inherent risk. They won’t do it. You may be able to convince them to use the fediverse through threads or bluesky, but they won’t host their own instance, even if the CTO/CIO/CISO agrees with your love for the verse. I’m not saying you shouldn’t try. I’m saying you should provide alternatives to twitter and to self-hosted mastodon; alternatives that don’t require self hosting anything.
