I think my view on talking godhand games has soured too much after Forspoken and Atomic Heart. We need to stray from this topic/genre for a good long while.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this game also had an awkward talking fridge, another strangely reoccurring theme in some of 2023’s games.
I think a bunch of devs thought that it would be nice to have some banter between the main character and a close confidant. I can see the concept working but you have to give the your protag and companion meaningful dialogue and establish a relationship the player would like to be in. Something that Forspoken and Atomic Heart in my opinion fail at pretty miserably. The main issue being that in both cases the protagonist is so negative towards their companion, like Frea and Dempsey (or whatever his name was) were both total assholes that made me not care for their stories.

Yep, as much as I was hoping to enjoy Atomic, that talking hand annoyed the shits outa me

Good point, the continuous negative banter in Atomic was just cringe, maybe I’m too old but felt it was directed towards a younger audience?
That’s possible, though it’s hard to say that AH was directed at any audience in my opinion.
