Manor Lords listening to the community and adding in a cool feature. Awesome!
The story behind Among Us is fascinating. It had been out for years and nobody really paid it any mind. Then around when COVID hit, it started getting some buzz and snowballed really rapidly
AI is fine if it’s used in the beginning-middle of a process. For example, if a writer has to write some dialogue, they know the basic content of the dialogue, feed that into GPT, that gives them a rough draft. Now many companies want to just make that the end of the process, and that’s really despicable. But if then the writer is able to go through and edit and proofread that draft until it’s basically all in their own words anyway, then the AI was just a labour saving device to create some basic structure from the outline.

That’s pretty vague. What is “other technology”?
Their engine, not the game or server code? How does the engine help their game live forever?

Wildly optimistic timeline.
Oh. I assumed it was like a record going gold.
I would say service-oriented is definitely but sometimes microservices are more trouble than they’re worth. They scale well but can be overengineering for smaller scale applications. And like Donald Knuth says: “premature optimization is cringe”
Yeah Unreal is owned by Epic, who have a history of corporate greed. Unity isn’t any better. I wish more would look at Godot as an option. I’ve played some great games written in Godot. Plus it’s FOSS!
That’s why people hated the ending. The reapers win. They do the same thing they’ve always done. The Protheans failed in their plan to break the cycle by leaving something behind for the next cycle. Liara’s plan to do the same by leaving a recording behind is just as doomed. It’s a depressing ending unbecoming of the epic story that was told along the way.
Yeah but TBF most games are bad. If you filter out the shovelware you are left with games that are actually putting in some effort. Usually the VA and writing are at least passable in those. But many genres simply don’t value writing or VA polish very highly. A story-heavy game like Slay the Princess lives or dies by its writing and voice acting. An RTS like Total War where most of the voice acting is unit barks doesn’t need it as much.
So many people pre-ordered that they are bragging about it going “gold” before it even releases. I expect this is going to have some serious quality problems when it releases.
Hooded Horse being based as usual. I only recently became aware of them as a publisher and suddenly started noticing their logo pop up at the beginning of several games that I adore (Manor Lords, W&R Soviet Republic, and Against the Storm)
That’s so dumb. Exposure to technology is neutral on its own. It depends what the tech is being used for whether it’s a good or a bad thing.
Oh for sure, patient gaming all the way. But I was more just pointing out that Denuvo does make things unpleasant for pirates too.
One way or another there’s waiting
I mean if someone is addicted to only playing one really specific MMO or MOBA and it’s not available on Linux I kinda get it. But if you’re the sort of person who enjoys lots of games, not just one, then there’s really no excuse at this point for sticking with Windows
